1/20th scale McLaren Mercedes MP4/13, Monaco G.P.
Modeling Descriptions and Photos

MP4/13 McLaren Mercedes - Hakkinen's Machine
Monaco G.P. is a uniquely challenging race for F1 drivers. Monaco G.P. races on a very narrow track with virtually no overtaking, uneven road surfaces (raced on public streets),
and walls are blocked with steel guard rails instead of safety net. It is indeed an unforgiving race event!
And there is a heritage of racing here as well, many legendary drivers such as Jim Clark and Ayrton Senna raced their souls right here in Monaco G.P. The city of Monte Carlo is
beautifully located facing an ocean with a hill of mountain on its back; observing the race also gives a chance to witness how romantic the city is...

The Frontal View
This is 1/20th scale plastic kit and it represents MP4/13 Monaco G.P. version which Mika Hakkinen drove and won the race. Eventually he then
went on to win the World Championship crown with this very same machine by winning eight races during the 1998
Grand Prix season.
The McLaren MP4/13 kit originally builds into a German G.P. version with the low down-force wing configuration and no "West" tobacco markings.
I used the Studio 27's Monaco G.P conversion kit which provides parts for wings(white metal) and decals was used to build this into a Monaco G.P. version. For anyone who might be interested in color mixture of this McLaren gray, feel free to email me.

The Top View
The kit has a very complex painting pattern and it requires some experience when applying decals. To tell the truth, I needed an extra copy of decals to complete this kit. ^_^
I would recommend this kit
to any die-hard F1 fan modelers out there. With little bit of patient, the result can be a stunning model.

The Engine View

The Close-up Detail View
There are many scratch-built items such as an emergency ignition-kill lever and coiled suspension arms.

The Rear Suspension View
The car has a very aggressive camber setup. I gave slight negative cambers on the rear and bit more on fronts. Since the Monaco G.P is a "clock-wise" turning track, you
will see that the front left wheel has the most negative camber setting.

The "West" Decal View
The "West" logos are fabulous and look so good with the car. It is unfortunate that this MP4/13 kit does not contain these great decals...
